Gathering at the Garden: A Closing Ceremony & Celebration @ Beaty

This special gathering provides an opportunity for community members to come together to celebrate the garden's growth and harvest, honor the wisdom and teachings of Indigenous Peoples, and prepare the garden for its transition into a new season. The ceremony will include teachings, stories, and insights about the garden and its cultural significance by Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers. As part of the closing ceremony, the harvest will be respectfully cut and burned as an offering of thanks to the spirits and ancestors who watch over and guide the garden. We will also recognize and celebrate the dedication of the volunteers, staff, and gardener whose many hours of care and stewardship helped the garden thrive throughout the summer season. Invitations will be extended to all individuals who volunteered in the garden this year. The Beaty Branch of the Milton Public Library sits on lands of the Ajetance Treaty Number 19 held with the Mississauga of the Credit First Nation.
