
Tech Certification - Sewing for Beginners @ Sherwood
Learn the basics of setting-up, threading and working a sewing machine. Practice setting up and using the sewing machine by making your own reusable menstrual pad. This 2.5 hour course is run by Help a Girl Out and participants will cover the following skills (below), and will then complete a project of making a reusable menstrual pad. This session is most useful for complete beginners who want more time working with the sewing machine By completing this program, participants will then be certified to come into the Tech Hub to use the sewing machine for their own projects. Turning on the sewing machine Threading the sewing machine Changing out needles Sewing straight lines Changing the stitch type Changing footers Creating and then loading a bobbin Creating a small project: 1 resuable menstrual pad (can be kept or donated back to Help a Girl Out) _________________________________ For those looking to certify in less time and/or those who are already familiar with sewing machines, please sign-up for the 1.0 hour Tech Certification: Sewing Machine course. After this workshop, participants will be certified to use the sewing machine at the TechHub at Sherwood Library on their own time for their own projects.
